Deliberate 9/11 disinformation transmitted by the BBC
The Seffen Story (more here)
The BBC ran this apparently false story on September 11th 2007, the 6th anniversary of the attacks, which claimed that a Cambridge University mathematical model, produced by their Dr Seffen, revealed that the twin towers collapses were a "very ordinary thing to happen".

Currently, now months later, nobody has seen these calculations, or even any real confirmation that this study ever existed. The BBC say this story came from the University of Cambridge, and provide a link to the Journal of Engineering Mechanics but there is no sign of Dr Seffen, or of his "calculations", there. He does have it on his "publications" list, as follows -

BBC story was then picked up, and quoted, in many other articles, appearing
in publications and blogs around the world. More details here

Reading the BBC
webpage, you can see why readers, and other publications, might
consider it authoritative. With the quotes from Dr
Seffen, and the confident style of delivery, about this most serious
subject, the reader might imagine that Dr
Seffen had actually been interviewed, and that the reporter had
read the report, or at least seen enough detail to feel that the results
were likely to be sound.
Instead, it is a rewrite of a piece posted on the University of Cambridge
website, here,

this came to light, there were attempts to explain it, and they claimed
that tapes from that day were unfortunately lost in a "cock-up".

4. We no longer have the original tapes of our 9/11 coverage (for reasons of cock-up, not conspiracy). So if someone has got a recording of our output, I'd love to get hold of it. We do have the tapes for our sister channel News 24, but they don't help clear up the issue one way or another. 5. If we reported the building had collapsed before it had done so, it would have been an error - no more than that. they keep 2 copies at separate locations, but Richard Porter can assure
us that it isn't a conspiracy, when they are all lost, just an unexplained
cock-up.
Similarly, the Head of News, Richard porter, regards the ability of
the BBC to accurately report future news events, before they happen,
as merely an error, and in no way indicative of a conspiracy of any
type.
